About the Workforce Development Program:
Groundwork Richmond received a CalFire grant to launch a Workforce Development:Employment Program promoting job training for future Urban Foresters. This program will employ Richmond residents to educate and train people in urban forestry or a closely related field. There will be three cohorts of 7 employees, all of which are 18 - 25 years old for 6 months . Participants in the program will receive the following training and support:
In addition to the coursework, Workforce Development participants will receive hands-on experience and work in the field with Groundwork staff to plant trees and learn about tree maintenance. The ultimate goal is to prepare participants for job opportunities.

- International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) - training on Urban Forestry
- California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Certification
- CPR/First Aid
- Resume writing
- Interview practice
In addition to the coursework, Workforce Development participants will receive hands-on experience and work in the field with Groundwork staff to plant trees and learn about tree maintenance. The ultimate goal is to prepare participants for job opportunities.
Benefits:
- You will be employed by Groundwork Richmond and earn $18/hour
- Ability to get hands-on experience with Groundwork Richmond, who has been appointed the Urban Forestry Administrators by the city of Richmond
- Professional Development support to help you get a job after 6 months
