Groundwork Richmond is involved in the Friends of the Richmond Greenway Advisory Committee as we have various spots off the Greenway that we have adopted and have plans to enhance. We work collaboratively with partners to support the continuous development of the Greenway. Read more about some of the projects we have been involved with below!

Unity ParkWith a $5 million grant from the state, local residents and organizations are designing “Unity Park” - an 8 block bike & pedestrian path with spaces for gardens, art, bioswales, playgrounds, and even a plaza along the Richmond Greenway – based on input from the community.
GWR Adopt-A-SpotsAs the City’s Urban Forester, we participate in their Adopt-A-Spot program - created to get the community involved in beautifying the Greenway by allowing the “adoption” of various spots throughout the bike trail. Our spots include the 42nd St, Carlson Blvd, and San Pablo Ave entrances to the Greenway. We hope to develop 42nd St into a full blown pocket park for the community, with San Pablo Ave & Carlson Blvd Entrances representing the Eastern terminus of the Greenway.

Closing the Greenway Gap - 23rd Street Bridge
Our Green Team supported Pogo Park, one of our partners, to engage with community in spreading awareness of this project and gain community feedback for the proposed 23rd Street Bridge to connect the East and West sides of the Richmond Greenway. Currently, the Greenway stops at 23rd Street and to continue traveling on the Greenway, you have to go under a dangerous underpass and walk through a confusing set of city streets to get on the other side. We were excited to be a part of the process in sharing feedback from community members about their concerns, ideas, and support of the project. Check out the flyer of the proposed plan here.
