Serving Richmond Youth:The Green Team at Groundwork Richmond is a dynamic group of local youth, ages 13-18, dedicated to making a positive impact in their community, all while earning money and gaining invaluable skills. Through hands-on experiences in environmental education, outdoor adventure, and community service, these young leaders are pushing forward Groundwork Richmond’s mission and shaping the future of their city.
Here’s a glimpse into the exciting activities our youth are involved in this year: 🌿 Environmental Education & Outdoor Adventures: Youth experience the wonders of the natural world through hiking, camping, kayaking, and even overnight backpacking excursions, building both their knowledge and a deep connection to the environment. 🌍 Community Outreach & Engagement: The Green Team works directly with Richmond residents, sharing information about upcoming projects and creating spaces for community voices to be heard. It’s all about building stronger, more connected neighborhoods. 🌳 Urban Greening & Local Partnerships: By collaborating with local businesses and organizations, the Green Team supports urban greening initiatives, bringing green spaces and environmental sustainability to Richmond’s streets and parks. 💨 Air Quality Education & Real-Time Data: Youth are trained to educate Richmond residents on the importance of air quality and environmental hazards. They also promote increased access to real-time air data and visualizations, helping the community make informed decisions about their health and environment. And that's just the beginning—there’s so much more to come! |
How to join the Green Team!Get Involved with the Green Team: Join Us Today!
We’re proud to partner with YouthWorks, a fantastic organization within the City of Richmond that connects local youth with job opportunities. If you're ready to be a part of the Green Team and make a difference in your community, follow these easy steps to get started: 1. Complete the Interest Form: Fill out our [Interest Form] to let us know you're excited to join! 2. Reach Out to Our Green Team Lead: Tori- [email protected] 3. Follow Up with Us: Once the form is filled out, you will get an email and be contacted by the lead for further instructions on what to do. Once completed you will be emailed with more instructions on what to do If you have been accepted and contacted back by the lead. 4. Join the Green Team! you’ll meet with our Green Team Lead for a final orientation, and you’ll officially be part of the Green Team at Groundwork Richmond! Parent Meeting : 5. We will also be in contact with parents to keep them updated on the summer schedule. We’re excited to meet you and start this journey together.
