As the designated Urban Forestry Administrator for the City of Richmond, Groundwork Richmond has been greening our community since 2010—planting and maintaining nearly 3,000 trees and continuously expanding Richmond’s urban canopy. Our Impact: 🌳Tree Planting & Maintenance – Strategically planting trees in parks, along thoroughfares, and in areas with limited greenery 🫂 Community Engagement – Hosting large-scale city events like Arbor Day, MLK Day of Service, and Earth Day 🤝 Volunteer & Workforce Growth – Increasing volunteer participation and workforce capacity each year to expand our impact Collaboration for a Greener Future: Groundwork Richmond works closely with the City’s Parks and Landscaping Division to identify prime locations for tree planting. As a permanent member of the Urban Forestry Advisory Committee, we ensure trees are planted by all local ordinances, maintaining an open dialogue with the City to adapt to evolving requirements. Bringing More Trees to Richmond’s Neighborhoods!🌳🌿
Groundwork Richmond is working to grow the city’s tree canopy in neighborhoods like Santa Fe, Coronado, and the Iron Triangle. With help from residents and community partners, we’ve planted hundreds of trees. bringing shade, cleaner air, and a touch of green to local streets. 🌱 Residents play a vital role! Not only do they benefit from trees right in front of their homes, but they also help with watering and care to ensure healthy growth. Groundwork Richmond provides tree planting support and after-care assistance to help every tree thrive. Want a tree at your home? Here's how! Step 1: Submit an Adopt-A-Tree Application online in Spanish or English (Pssst… You’ll need to know your neighborhood!) or mail a physical application to 249A Tewksbury Ave, Richmond, CA 📧 You can also scan and email it to [email protected] Step 2: Commit to tree care! 💧 Water weekly for the first 3 years and twice a week during hot months 🌿 Weed the base of your tree to prevent pests and ensure steady growth Reach out to us if you notice any issues we’re here to help! 📩 Want to know which trees are approved by the City for sidewalks?
