Last weekend we planted trees at S 42nd St Pocket Park along the Greenway and in surrounding neighborhoods. We had neighbors send in Adopt-A-Tree Forms before the day of the event, so that we could plant trees as a community. Everyone worked hard to get the trees in the ground before the end of the day. During our circle up, Ranger Betty Reid Soskin came to join us along with a few other guests from the National Park Service. It was a welcome surprise. They made it just in time for the unveiling of the newest S 4nd Street community mural on the Greenway that the Green Team has been working so hard on for the past month. Arbor Day ended with well deserved tacos from a local taco truck and the rain came shortly afterwards, just in time to water in the trees. Thank you to all the community members, partners, city council members, and sponsors who made Arbor Day 2016 so beautiful! For this project we partnered with Richmond Trees and the City of Richmond.
