Groundwork Richmond Green Team

“If it wasn’t for all the opportunities this program has given me, I probably would not be where I am now; going to college, learning new life skills & simply progressing. You guys are truly an inspiration and I am just glad I am here today.”- Holly Keuth, Green Team member since 2012

Serving Richmond Youth:

The Green Team is comprised of young people predominantly from Richmond, ages 15-25 years old, where they earn money while engaging in recreational, educational, and service activities to push Groundwork Richmond's mission forward.  Here's a list of the fun things youth are doing this year!
  • Exposure to environmental education and outdoor extracurricular activities including hiking, camping, kayaking, and overnight backpacking excursions
  • Community outreach to Richmond residents to inform them about upcoming projects and ways to get their voices heard
  • Building community and working with local organizations and businesses to support urban greening in Richmond
  • Educating Richmond Residents on Air quality and hazards increased access to real time air and visualizations
  • And so much more!
Does this sound like something you or someone you know might be interested in?  Learn how to get involved below!!

How to join the Green Team!

We are partnered with YouthWorks, an awesome agency within the City of Richmond who works with youth to get them connected to local job opportunities in Richmond.
  1. Start the process by first completing this Worksite Request Form on the YouthWorks website
  2. Let our Green Team Lead, Salma Berumen (Salma@groundworkrichmond.org) know that you are interested so she can connect you to our contact at YouthWorks!
  3. If you don't hear from YouthWorks in a week circle back with Salma so we can help move the process forward.
  4. Once someone from YouthWorks reaches out to you and you have completed your onboarding paperwork you will go through a series of professional development workshops to prepare you for working with Groundwork.
  5. After you complete all of your workshops with YouthWorks you will connect with Salma to do an orientation before starting with Groundwork
  6. Finally you will be part of the Green Team at Groundwork Richmond!  We look forward to meeting you!
