Adopt-a-Trail on the Richmond Greenway
Groundwork Richmond has adopted two sites along the Richmond Greenway Trail. One is located at S 42nd Street and Ohio Ave. and the other is located at the Carlson Blvd. entrance to the eastern span of the Greenway. Donate to the Green Team Fund – supports youth employment and trail stewardship, including stipends, supplies, transportation, recognition events, and multimedia equipment. Adopt-a-Tree
In partnership with the City of Richmond Parks and Landscaping Division, YouthWORKS and the National Park Service, Groundwork Richmond is working to increase the urban tree canopy in the under-treed neighborhoods of Santa Fe, Coronado and the Iron Triangle. Donate to the Richmond Tree Fund – buys trees and the supplies needed to support their young lives. Summer Farm Project
Eight youth participated in the summer farm project this year. This summer our project extended invitations to the City of San Pablo and Contra Costa Office of Education’s Safe and Healthy Futures program , where approximately thirty-five youth attended a one week session at the farm working alongside their parents (twenty) to learn about sustainable farming and healthy eating. Our Green Team youth were role models to these middle-school youth, the goal being to engage the youth and interest them in the types of programs offered by the RoRi partnership with GWR. Green Team
Local young people affiliated with YouthWORKS receive academic support there, and participate in environmental education and service‐learning projects organized by “Rosie” and Groundwork. You’ll see our Green Team members throughout these pages, talking to neighbors, helping to plant trees, and creating a vision for our Richmond Greenway site. Donate to the Green Team Fund – supports youth employment and trail stewardship, including stipends, supplies, transportation, recognition events, and multimedia equipment. |
